Seasonal allergies

Perennial allergies

Perennial allergies, also known as year-round allergies, result from continuous exposure to indoor allergens, such as dust mites, pet dander, mold spores, and cockroach particles, which are present throughout the year. These allergens are commonly found in indoor environments like homes, offices, and schools. Perennial allergies typically manifest as persistent symptoms affecting the respiratory system and may include a congested or stuffy nose, itching in the nasal passages, throat irritation, and occasionally, a runny nose. Additionally, individuals with perennial allergies may experience discomfort in the lips and throat due to constant exposure to indoor allergens.

Perennial nonallergic rhinitis

Perennial nonallergic rhinitis, also referred to as vasomotor rhinitis, is a persistent condition characterized by symptoms resembling those of allergic rhinitis but without an allergic basis. Unlike allergic rhinitis, which is triggered by specific allergens, perennial nonallergic rhinitis persists for more than nine months each year and is not associated with immune-mediated allergic responses.

Individuals with perennial nonallergic rhinitis commonly experience symptoms such as a runny nose (rhinorrhea), nasal congestion or stuffiness, frequent sneezing, and itching in the nasal passages. These symptoms may occur year-round and can significantly impact an individual's quality of life. Despite the absence of allergic triggers, perennial nonallergic rhinitis shares similarities with allergic rhinitis in terms of symptom presentation, making diagnosis and management challenging.

Pharmacology

Fluticasone Furoate, the active ingredient in F-Son, is a synthetic trifluorinated corticosteroid that acts by reducing inflammation. It affects various cell types and mediators involved in inflammation, such as mast cells, eosinophils, histamine, and cytokines.

Dosage of F Son Nasal Spray

For Fluticasone Furoate Nasal Spray, the recommended dosage varies by age: 2 sprays in each nostril once a day for adults and children over 12 years, 1 spray in each nostril once a day for children aged 2-11 years, and it's not recommended for children under 2 years.

Instructions for using the nasal spray include priming the pump before first use or after a period of non-use, shaking the bottle, and administering the spray into each nostril while breathing in. The device should be cleaned weekly.

Use in Special Populations

Caution should be exercised in the elderly and patients with severe hepatic impairment. No dosage adjustment is required in patients with renal impairment.

Interaction

Before using F Son Nasal Spray, it is important to inform your doctor if you are taking or have recently taken any of the following medicines:

1. Medicines used to treat HIV, such as ritonavir and cobicistat.
2. Medicines used to treat fungal infections, such as ketoconazole.
3. Medicines used to treat asthma, including theophylline.
4. Medicines used to treat inflammation, such as steroids like prednisolone.

Contraindications

F-Son Nasal Spray is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to any of its components.

Use during pregnancy and lactation is cautioned, and it should be used only if the potential benefits justify the potential risks.

Precautions & Warnings

Immediate hypersensitivity reactions or contact dermatitis may occur rarely. Other rare side effects include wheezing, nasal septum perforation, cataracts, glaucoma, and increased intraocular pressure.
